LEADERSHIP IN WATER CONSERVATION
York Region Water Conservation Advisory Committee
In March 2011, York Region released its Long Term Water Conservation Strategy (strategy) that looks ahead 40 years into the future of water in York Region. The strategy centres on a simple vision of "no new water." This vision relies on creating a culture of water conservation and advancing our water technologies and programs so that we can reduce our water use.
York Region aims to achieve this vision by developing these initiatives:
York Region Water Conservation Advisory Committee
As recommended by the strategy, York Region has assembled a Water Conservation Advisory Committee. The committee consists of representatives from various backgrounds and interest groups located in York Region.
The Committee Terms of Reference document provides more details about the committee, including its mandate, reporting structure and membership responsibilities.
The committee term runs from 2012 to 2013. When the term concludes, members will have the option to renew their membership for one year. New Committee members will be selected from new applicants located in the York Region community.
The committee will meet five times over the next year. The meetings are open to the public and your input is valued by York Region. If you would like to attend a committee meeting, please contact us for dates and locations of upcoming meetings.
We encourage you to read the meeting minutes and look at the presentations.
